Frisco man tests positive for Coronavirus

COVID-19 Hits Frisco

With the WHO declaring the coronavirus now a global pandemic, more and more people are taking notice. Earlier this week it was confirmed that a Frisco man in his 30s tested positive for the coronavirus. Upon testing of those he had come in close contact with, his wife and 3-year-old child tested positive for the coronavirus.

The family has children that attend Tadlock Elementary School. Frisco ISD is currently on spring break but notified parents about the coronavirus case. This week cleaning crews were seen in full protective suits entering the school to disinfect it as a precaution.

Currently, these three cases are the only ones in Collin County. Unfortunately, there were four new cases in the North Texas area. Three people in Dallas County and one person in Tarrant county have tested positive for the coronavirus. All patients identified are in self-quarantine.

It looks like the news of the coronavirus hitting North Texas has impacted the ability to get Lysol, other disinfectants, and even toilet paper. When going to a couple of the local stores, the shelves were empty where these products use to be. Currently, there is no need to stock up on these or any other items though. You should just take preventative measures to avoid being infected by the coronavirus.

The following actions are being recommended to help prevent contracting or spreading the coronavirus:

  • Avoid close contact with people who are sick.
  • Avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth.
  • Stay home when you are sick.
  • Cover your face when you cough or sneeze with a tissue and throw the tissue away.
  • Wear a facemask if you are sick.
  • Clean and disinfect frequently touched objects and surfaces.
  • Wash your hands with soap and water for at least 20 seconds.
  • If soap and water are not readily available, use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer with at least 60% alcohol.
  • Consult CDC’s travel website for any travel advisories and steps to protect yourself if you plan to travel outside the US
